Fall Welcome Letter
Dear Choir Families,
We hope you have enjoyed your summer, relaxed, and re-energized for an exciting school year! We are so excited for all the music opportunities we have in store for you and for you to grow as a singer. Ms. Dimich and Mr. Ohnsorg have many fun things planned for this year, but here are a few highlights: a new grand piano for our rehearsal space, tour in the spring to St. Louis and Nashville (must have signed up activities and festivals with the help of funds from our choir booster organization, Friends of Farmington Choir, and numerous concerts and festivals coming your way. As we grow as a program, so do our opportunities. We hope that you will dive into this program and truly make choir a highlight of your day and years at FHS.
Enclosed is also a letter from our Friends of Farmington Choir (or FFC) organization. Please read both letters carefully for concert dates, attire, fundraising, and all the great ways for you to be involved in our program.
FUNDRAISING
Fundraisers are a big part of our choir program. We love to be able to offer students with ample opportunities for travel, activities, choir “gear”, and experiences. Fundraising greatly helps with this. Here are just a few reasons your child might want to fundraise in choir.
- Tour (Every other year we invite any 10th-12th grader in our program to go on tour. We will be traveling to St. Louis and Nashville in the spring. A portion of our fundraising will go towards off-setting tour costs)
- Choir sweatshirts/t-shirts/etc. (available through Town Sports)
- Choir trips to musicals/operas
- Trips to work with expert clinicians
- Pay for senior outing (we always do a senior only event at the end of the school year of the senior class’s choosing)
Each school year, we start by selling fresh Washington Peaches. Our FFC president- Chandra Poissant explains this in detail in her welcome letter in this mailing. Please see the attached order form for information about the sale and how to place your order.
Concert Information
Our Concerts are mandatory. Think of them as final exams. Our students want to be able to participate, so please help them prioritize as you organize your schedule for the year. We NEED the whole choir present to showcase our music. Please put these dates on your calendars NOW and keep this sheet in a handy spot! The calendar is also posted on the choir website.
We can’t wait to make music with you, see you all on September 5th!
Sincerely,
Ms. Megan Dimich and Mr. Brian Ohnsorg
