Holiday Concert 2019 Information

Dear Parents,

We are busy preparing for our annual Holiday Choir Concert. Please read this letter that explains our rehearsal on Saturday, December 14th, the format of the concert, student expectations, ways to contribute, and clarification that there will be no tickets for this year’s performance.

Mandatory Rehearsal
Saturday, December 14th. 10-Noon. FHS Recital Hall. This is our only chance for all choirs to rehearse together as well as to rehearse with our accompanist and the members of the Rosewood Quartet.

Performances
Monday, December 16th. 6 and 8 p.m. in the FHS Recital Hall.
We invite family and friends of the 5th grade honor choir and all 9th graders in choir members to attend the 6 p.m. performance. Family and friends of 10-12th graders are encouraged to attend the 8 p.m. performance. All FHS Choirs perform throughout the entirety of both performances.

No Tickets This Year
We will not be sending out tickets for this year’s Holiday Concert. Parents, family and friends, while we encourage you to attend the specified concert as listed above, please choose to attend the performance that works best for your family’s schedule. The house will open for seating 25 minutes prior to the Concert. Those who require wheelchair access are encouraged to use the elevator down to the 1st level and can access spaces on the ends of row A. Those of you with small children might want to choose seats closer to the back and on the end of a row in case you need to step out for a bathroom break or to burn off some energy.

Student Expectations
Call time for Choirs will be 5:15 p.m. The Choir Booster will provide a light snack and water to our choir students between concerts. Again, all choirs sing during the entirety of both the 6 and 8 p.m. performances. Concert attire is the same as the fall concert. A Request: can you please make sure your boys have BLACK SOCKS to go with their black dress shoes?

Concert Format
The Holiday Concert is an hour of seamless music that transitions from one ensemble to the next. Special lighting, staging, images, and a professional string quartet enhance this performance to make it something special. This is different than our other concerts where there is more of a transition from one choir to the next. We have a wonderful space in which to enjoy live music because of the physical space and even more importantly the live acoustic. We ask that the audience be seated and quiet during the entirety of the program, both for the enjoyment of the entire audience as well as the concentration and focus of the performing ensembles. Please take this into consideration when selecting seats.

Opportunities to Contribute
Please consider purchasing Livia’s Seasoning, sold year-round, by the choir department to help support our program. We always have inventory, so you can purchase more any time. Just send $10 cash or check made out to TFC Choir Booster with your student or purchase at any concert during the year. Thank you to all that sold/purchased Peaches and Poinsettias. We are already using those proceeds to support our choir students.

Booster Meeting
We welcome any choir parents who would like to get more involved with our program to join us at any of the choir booster meetings this year. Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. in the FHS second floor conference room near the main office. Our next two meetings are Nov. 20th and Jan. 29th.

Thank you for your continued support of the FHS Choral Department!

Sincerely,

Megan Dimich & Brian Ohnsorg
